Why I Don't Stress Over Things That Don't Matter

Someone stole 5 out of the 20 bags of composts that I left on the sidewalk because I haven’t had time to bring them inside.  Although I was a little disappointed, I wasn’t mad.  Why?

Because I started thinking about how my neighbor brings me homemade Indian food all the time, how my other neighbors helped me make 50 copies of my “Planting 101 Guide” to distribute to the neighborhood, how other neighbors keep offering me donations for the garden.

And then I got to thinking about how I’ve had more family support and protection and luck than most people, and how I have work that aligns with my soul’s purpose and how aligned my life is in general.

And all of sudden, 5 bags of compost just seem like a blip in the grand a scheme of this universe.  Besides, if someone feels like they have to steal 5 bags of compost, then they have worse problems to deal with than compost. Just let it go.

And since the karmic laws always know what they’re doing, 1 week later, I got an email from my city announcing that they’ll be giving out free compost.  The amount per household: exactly 5 bags.

So I choose not to stress over things that are not worth stressing out about.  As my dad said, "What’s meant to be yours will never pass you by."  And if we try to take MORE than what’s supposed to be ours, then the universe will take something else away.  I’ve seen this law play out many many times.
