Pan Fried Tofu

Love fried tofu but don't love the extra grease or messy grease splatter? Here’s my foolproof way to make splatter-free, less-grease pan fried tofu. No tofu press needed!

Ingredients

1 package firm or super firm tofu

3 tablespoons of oil

Instructions:

1) Cut your tofu into even pieces. Clearly, I prefer 1-inch cubes.

2) On an UNGREASED non-stick pan, add tofu and cook on medium high heat until most of the liquid has evaporated. Turn every few minutes or so to ensure even cooking. This step will take some time. So go do other stuff like fold the laundry while you wait.

At the end of step #2, your tofu should be SOMEWHAT brown and has shrunken in size. It’s the extra water that causes grease splatter and lengthens your cooking time, which leads to extra grease absorption. We want the liquid GONE.

3) While the tofu is in the pan, add 2-3 tablespoons of oil. Pan fry as usual until crispy. Turn to ensure even cooking on all sides.

4) Use fried tofu in your favorite recipes, like Đậu Hũ Sốt Cà Chua.
