The Walkway Mural and When Nature Becomes Art

These snippets were taken from a wall mural that stretches about half of a mile along the walkway that lead us to the mystical temple of Hùng Vương - the legendary founder of the first Vietnamese state, often referred to as the unified ancestor of the Vietnamese people.

We’ll get into that story another day, but for now, I just want to focus on the breathtaking artwork that literally rendered me breathless, and colored me green with envious frustration because I could not take this masterpiece home with me.

Do you notice that the wild vegetations growing along the wall naturally blend into the art? That was not unintentional. I only wish I could show you the entire length of the beautiful pathway. But perhaps that was the artist’s intention: just like the fleeting elements of Nature, the viewer must be completely engaged, mind body and soul, to fully immerse in the holistic experience.
